Pregnant pop babe Britney Spears has upped the stakes in the celebrity religion wars, with word she'll raise her unborn child to follow the mystical Kabbalah faith.The mum-to-be has planned a Kabbalah blessing for the bub - or bubs, with unconfirmed reports she is expecting twins - nine days after the expected due date, UK tabloid The Sun has reported.
Brit, backup-dancer hubby Kevin Federline and 70 of her closest pals will reportedly celebrate the blessing at the group's LA headquarters.
The Toxic singer, whose first child to Kev is due in September, first encountered the religion through her spiritual mentor and one-time pash pal Madonna.
Though she burst on to the pop scene as a God-fearing Baptist who flaunted her Christianity - and virginity - the pop princess has publicly embraced the mystical religion.
"Through Kabbalah I was able to look within myself, clear all the negative energy and turn my life around," Brit told fans on her website earlier this year.
The faith is a "miraculous source of power" so strong it can "totally heal and transform your life and genuinely change our world for the good - forever!" according to its website. Last year it emerged as Hollywood's hottest new religion, challenging Scientology's long reign as Tinseltown's top obscure spirituality.
Its chic accessories may also have helped draw attention to its rise to fame.
While Christianity has its crucifix bling, Kabbalah keeps it minimal with red string bracelets that apparently guard wearers against the "negative force of the evil eye".
Other reported followers, including Madonna, Demi Moore, Paris Hilton and Brittany Murphy, have been spotted around Tinseltown flaunting the distinctive bands.
Newly-outspoken Scientologist Tom Cruise has yet to make a public outburst about the news.
