Ellen Pompeo Back On Grey's Anatomy

Doctor McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey as Dr Derek Shepherd) and Miss Whiny (Ellen Pompeo as intern Meredith Grey) are back in this Seattle-set hospital drama centred on five first-year surgeons.

Meredith opens with her usual annoying narration and rabbits on about Romeo and Juliet, which sets up an ep with fate as its central theme.

George is out on the street but leaps backwards when a pigeon swoops on his bagel and dumps on it - and suddenly a window cleaner lands just where he was standing.

Fate, feels George, has saved him.

Dr Shepherd and his surgeon missus are still trying to sort things out but she hates Meredith's presence in the hospital (as well she should).

Old friends Sammy and Weiss turn up, but the former is incredibly fatalistic and she wants the most extreme surgery imaginable.

And an elderly couple so in love deal with a terminal illness in different ways, but both with fatalism.

Grey's Anatomy is solidly entertaining viewing.
