Harry Potter star Emma Watson has admitted that she cannot get a date. She says the opposite sex are either intimidated by her or tease her.

The 16-year-old, who plays Hermione Granger in the films based on JK Rowling's books, told Newsweek magazine: "People say to me 'Oh it must be so easy for you - dating and boys. They must be lining up for you'."

But she confessed: "It's really not easy. I suppose guys are either kind of intimidated by me and they have defences up, or they like to take the p*** out of me.

"It's a minefield, to be honest. It's stressful. I'll just have to wait. Maybe someone will find me."

Watson ruled out romance with her male co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry, and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), saying "they feel like my brothers".

She is currently filming the fifth Harry film, The Order Of The Phoenix, and negotiations are under way to sign her up for the final films in the Potter series.

But Watson said she has not made up her mind, adding: "I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing."
