Hollywood 'it' girl Lindsay Lohan is in advanced negotiations to make a whirlwind visit to Australia next month.The fashion plate and noted party girl is expected to be in Sydney to attend the Nickelodeon People's Choice Awards at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on October 11.
Nickelodeon sources confirmed talks were taking place with Lohan, but stressed no contracts had been signed.
Lohan fever went into overdrive during the week with rumours she could be a surprise guest at Flemington during Cup Week.
But US sources and key Flemington marquee sponsors denied negotiations were taking place.
Meanwhile, rising film favourite Sophie Monk is returning to Australia to host the Nickelodeon Awards.
The blonde bombshell has made major inroads into Hollywood since setting up home in LA in February 2005, landing roles in Date Movie, Click, Sex and Death 101 and Spring Breakdown.
The former Bardot star, who found fame on reality television show Popstars in 1999, is also trying to revive her music career.
"I'm working with some amazing people," she said.
One of her new songs will be featured in Spring Breakdown, a film she described as a kind of "Revenge of the Nerds for girls".
Monk, who is dating Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, said she was focusing on developing her film, rather than TV, career in the US.
"I've been offered lots of TV shows, but I want to stick to movies," she said.
"Sometimes I go for auditions and I want to ask (fellow actors) for autographs, but I can't because I'm up against them. It's ridiculous."
Monk admitted she is homesick and hopes to be in Queensland next month for the birth of sister Angelique's first baby.
