Rachel Bilson Relives Crash Horror

The OC is a souped-up soap with sexy plotlines which received an injection of tragedy with the passing of Marissa (Mischa Barton) at the end of last season.It was something co-star Rachel Bilson could relate to, having survived a head-on car crash at 16, an incident which forced her to reassess her life and the people she shared it with.
"I was unconscious for two days after hanging out with people I shouldn't have," she recalls.
"I still have the scars under my hairline and I get headaches from time to time, and my memory is not so good. From the age of 14 to 16 I was hanging out with people I probably shouldn't have. The accident made me go in a different direction to the self-destructive path down which I was headed."
The 25-year-old has been on The OC since it started in 2003, playing Summer Roberts. The show returned to Ten last week and will air within a week of being seen in the US.
Bilson says she is surprised at how the prime-time soap has evolved into such a cult hit among teenagers.
"With television you never know what's going to take off, and to be on a show that has become what The OC is, has been an amazing thing," she says. She remains unfazed by the fame that's come with her success.
"I don't have it nearly as bad as a lot of other girls out there, but you can't really let being under scrutiny get to you," says Bilson, who dates her on-screen boyfriend Adam Brody.
"You know when you start that's part of the job. What's personal to you, you want to keep personal because so much of you is exposed."
Bilson has also found time for her first major film role, starring as Zach Braff's (Scrubs) temptress in The Last Kiss. She confesses the most difficult part was filming her first sex scene.
"It's so weird," she says. "It's not normal to make out with a guy in front of 10 other guys on camera, but you just do it. You can't really think about it too much or you might get a little too nervous."
