RihannaR&B singer Rihanna made it six weeks at number one on Sunday with her hit single Umbrella, featuring New York rapper Jay-Z.

The pair held off Essex newcomer Lee Mead, who won a television search for a singer to play the lead role in a revival of the stage musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

His version of Any Dream Will Do rose 16 places to number two, according to the Official UK Charts Company, which compiles the weekly countdown.

In third place was Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias with the love song Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song), already a hit on the US Latin music charts.

Scottish DJ Calvin Harris, who got his big break after posting his music on the MySpace website, climbed two places to fourth with The Girls.

At five was American R&B singer Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny's Child, with Like This, a collaboration with the Philadelphia rapper Eve.

American duo The White Stripes slipped four places to sixth with Icky Thump, the title track of their new album which entered the charts at number one on Sunday.

Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors by indie rock band The Editors rose to seventh.

Beyonce and Shakira's Beautiful Liar held steady at number eight, while US hip hop group Gym Class Heroes dropped to nine with Cupid's Chokehold.

Completing the top 10 was Never Again by Texas-born singer Kelly Clarkson, who won the first series of the TV talent show American Idol in 2002.
